Main store listing copy

App name

PaperNest

Short description

66 characters; Play permits up to 80.

Scan, organize, and understand your receipts—right on your device.

Full description

Turn scattered receipts into a clear, organized record with PaperNest.

Snap a photo or choose receipt images and PDFs from your device. On-device text recognition suggests useful details such as the merchant, date, and total. You stay in control: review and edit every detail before saving.

STAY ORGANIZED

• Save one receipt or work through several at once
• Create groups for work, travel, home, projects, and more
• Browse saved receipts by group, year, and month
• Edit or delete receipt details whenever you need to

UNDERSTAND YOUR SPENDING

• See totals for a custom date range
• Filter results by receipt group
• Review individual receipts behind each total
• Export a CSV report or one organized ZIP of your receipt images

PRIVATE BY DESIGN

Your receipt library is stored locally on your device. Text recognition runs on the device, no account is required, and your receipt photos and extracted financial details are not sent to the developer.

Whether you are organizing expenses, preparing a reimbursement, keeping project records, or simply clearing paper clutter, PaperNest makes the next step easy to see.

Release notes

Welcome to the first release of PaperNest! Capture or import receipts, review on-device scan suggestions, organize your library into groups, explore totals, choose an export destination, and export reports or a receipt-image ZIP when you need them.

Graphic assets

All final listing images are 24-bit PNG files without transparency where Google Play requires it.

Play asset Required dimensions Ready file
High-resolution app icon 512 × 512 assets/store/app_icon_512x512.png
Feature graphic 1024 × 500 assets/store/feature_graphic_1024x500.png

Phone screenshot 5 1080 × 1920 assets/store/screenshots/05_zoomable_receipt_preview_1080x1920.png

The app icon and feature graphic are generated directly from the supplied PaperNest artwork at assets/Logo.png. Both use the same blue, cyan, and deep-navy brand palette as the app interface. Run python tools/build_store_assets.py whenever the source logo changes.

Google requires at least two screenshots to publish a store listing and recommends at least four high-resolution screenshots for stronger promotional eligibility. Seven fresh screenshots render the real app with fictional demo records, including Home and review/save. Use RELEASE.md for their current order and inspect all images on a physical phone before production.

App content declarations

These are recommended answers based on the current source and release configuration. The account owner remains responsible for confirming the final bundle and all SDK behavior.

Privacy policy

  • Privacy policy required: Yes
  • Source ready: docs/privacy.md
  • Public URL: OWNER INPUT REQUIRED
  • Policy summary: receipt content and app records stay locally on the device; Google ML Kit may transmit limited SDK diagnostics as described in the policy.

Ads

  • Does the app contain ads? No
  • Does the app use an advertising ID for ads? No

App access

  • Are all features available without special access? Yes
  • Login, membership, location restriction, or access instructions: None

Target audience

  • Suggested target age groups: 18 and over
  • Is the app primarily directed to children? No
  • Families program: Not applicable

This is a suggested positioning choice for a personal expense-record tool, not a technical restriction. OWNER INPUT REQUIRED: confirm the intended audience before submitting.

Content rating questionnaire

Suggested answers for the current app:

  • Violence: None
  • Sexuality or nudity: None
  • Language: None
  • Controlled substances: None
  • Gambling or simulated gambling: None
  • User-generated content shared with others: No
  • Online interaction or content exchange: No
  • Location sharing: No
  • Purchases: No
  • Financial transactions: No
  • App category for rating purposes: Utility/Productivity

Expected result: suitable for a general audience. Use the rating produced by the official Play questionnaire.

Financial features declaration

  • Does the app provide regulated financial products, loans, banking, investing, cryptocurrency, money transfers, insurance, or financial advice? No
  • Suggested selection: None of the above
  • Explanation if requested: “PaperNest is a local receipt organizer and expense-record utility. It does not connect to financial accounts, execute transactions, provide credit, or offer investment or financial advice.”

Data safety

Google defines “collection” as transmitting data off the user’s device. Access and processing that remain only on-device generally do not count as collection. All published apps must still complete the form and provide a privacy-policy URL. See Google’s Data safety guidance.

Current first-party behavior:

Data or activity App behavior Suggested declaration
Receipt images/PDFs Selected by the user; processed and stored locally Not collected or shared
Merchant, date, amount, and groups Entered or recognized locally; stored locally Not collected or shared
CSV and image exports Created only on user request Not collected or shared
Local logs/settings Stored in private app storage Not collected or shared
Account data No account feature Not collected
Contacts/location Not accessed Not collected

Third-party SDK note: the Android bundle includes Google ML Kit on-device text recognition. Based on the current privacy-policy review, ML Kit may collect limited app/device identifiers, app information, performance data, and diagnostics for SDK diagnostics and analytics; receipt images and recognized text are processed on-device. Before submission, compare the exact bundled ML Kit version (com.google.mlkit:text-recognition:16.0.1) with Google’s current disclosure guidance and answer the form conservatively. Google makes the developer responsible for disclosures made necessary by third-party SDKs.

If the Play form requires the following ML Kit categories, suggested handling is:

  • Device or other IDs: collected, not shared; diagnostics/analytics; required by SDK; encrypted in transit.
  • App info and performance / Diagnostics: collected, not shared; diagnostics/analytics; required by SDK; encrypted in transit.
  • Receipt photos, extracted text, merchant/date/amount: not collected off-device.

Do not answer “No data collected” until the exact release bundle has been checked against current ML Kit disclosure documentation.

Permissions declaration

The release declares:

  • CAMERA: optional; used only when the user chooses Snap a Receipt.
  • WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE with maxSdkVersion=28: legacy Android 7–9 support for a user-requested camera image or export.

No broad modern photo-library permission is declared. Android’s document picker grants access only to user-selected files. Suggested camera explanation:

Camera access is used only when the user chooses Snap a Receipt. The photo is processed and stored on the user’s device for receipt organization.

Other App content answers

  • News app: No
  • Government app: No
  • Health app: No
  • Dating app: No
  • Social app: No
  • COVID-19 contact tracing or status app: No
  • AccessibilityService API: Not used
  • Exact alarm permission: Not used
  • VPN service: Not used
  • All files access: Not used
  • Background location: Not used
  • SMS/call log permissions: Not used
  • Photo/video permissions declaration: Not required for the system picker approach

  • Pricing: Free
  • Contains in-app products: No
  • Contains ads: No
